Life is sweet

Dear Ones,

Life is sweet. I normally end with that line but reflecting on the last couple weeks I can't help but sum it up in those three words. There may be some sour thrown in there when I get test results back from last week but until then I'll take the sweet.

School is sweet: Classes are picking up but I've found myself much more engrossed with the content of this semester than I was last semester. Its becoming a lot more applicable and we are starting to make connections from all that we've been learning so far. My cadaver's lower extremities were meticulously dissected only to be one of the specimen that was not used for our exam. (all these days of dissecting....WASTED! - ok not entirely but still a crime). We had our first anatomy exam and I have to say I'm so grateful for how BYU tested my anatomy because it way over prepared me for this test. The only part I'm afraid of are the integration questions.

Clinic is bittersweet: I had my first clinic day of the semester which is at an out patient office. We only go 5 times this semester for which I am extremely grateful because we are really only observing and the environment isn't my favorite. However I am paired up with one of my friends again and she's awesome so at least we can commiserate.

Other tidbits: Saturday nights have started to be game nights with a bunch of students in the med school. Playing catch phrase with them is very different in that they think on a much higher level than my own simple mind. When given the clue "digits on the end of my foot" their answers were "phalanges!"....the answer was toes or "resilient epidermis" was the clue for tough skin. I'm catching on and learning to play to my audience as best as I can.

To top off my experiences were being able to share the what my family means to me with a visiting professor from China. She was so interested that she asked to come to church. I took her to a family ward. It was testimony meeting and all she could do was smile, struggle to understand and comment on all the focus we put on families. She brought 2 friends with her, also from China. That congregation had many mandarin speakers. I sat among them and felt like I was back in Taiwan which was probably the sweetest feeling of all!

That about does it. Really not much to report but all is good and like I said, life is sweet!

  1. "All these years of planning... WASTED!" I love that you used that quote. :)
