Week 2: Lesson Learned in PT

Dear Ones,

With the second week under my belt I'm feeling more confident in some areas and still absolutely lost in others. Its comforting to have my CI (clinical instructor), R, say "Yall are doing awesome!" and then qualify it with "for first years." I don't know how I should feel about that but I'll take it as a passing my clinical for now.

I'm seeing several patients of my own and all of our new evals are relatively simple cases. I shouldn't wish for people to have problems especially complicated ones but at the same time it would be nice to see. I'm trying to learn how to progress people through their treatments. After doing personal training I know lots of different exercises but I'm having to be creative to simplify them for patients with weakness and not for athletes which is a bit of challenge. At the nursing home I've started helping with wound care and though there are many cases of pressure sores on peoples feet I have been blessed to deal with the ones on peoples bums....(sorry no picture included)

Thursdays are my days off and so I joined my land lady and her friend for a trip up to the Manti temple. I've only ever seen the outside which is beautiful but inside is like stepping back in time. The architecture, furniture, ceilings...it all is so beautifully ornate and blows the mind to think that they were either originals or from the period of the pioneers. What a cool experience! The live session was great!

Lesson Learned in PT:

-No matter what I do to a patient, they will still progress: I was given these words of advice by my CI. He said that any movement is good movement some is more efficient and effective and learning that progression comes with time. This made me think of something I read once in The Ensign about a little girl who during teacher appreciation week brought her teacher a potato instead of an apple. The child thought nothing of it and said I didn't have an apple so I brought you a potato. The writer said that potato reminded her its not necessarily what or how much we give but that we give or do what we can. Heavenly Father will accept the widows might because she gave her all willingly and if I do so, like Christ feeding the 5000, He can multiply my efforts to meet His purposes.

Playing with family this weekend at a Polynesian festival
Life's sweet here. I have once again escaped to spend time with family and friends this weekend thanks to the benevolence of my aunt and uncle. I owe them more than a potato to show my appreciation but part of me would like to see their reaction of getting a potato with a thank you card. Love yall!
