I chose cute flats to look good for my first day, which in retrospect was not a great decision. My feet were killing me after an 8 hour shift of running back and forth with patients. But if that decision wasn't bad enough the next day I chose to walk my 3 mile route to school in Sperry's. I thought I brought my tennis shoes for a back up but it turns out I only brought my tennis shoe (singular). Half way home I sat down and waited for the bus to try and spare my raw feet. Now my feet are pretty tender and I'm nursing some blisters but I learned a valuable lesson that what I stand on matters.

The principles and doctrines that I stand on and try to live by matter. If I'm not planning on the future or I'm not looking ahead then what I stand on in based simply on looks or to impress those around me and only leads to pain (I could show you the blisters). Christ taught of the foolish man building his house upon the sand and when the winds and floods came his house was washed away. Twice this week I have literally played the role of the foolish man and not been careful or mindful of on what foundation I stood and suffered the consequences. Lesson learned.
“And
now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who
is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the
devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea,
when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no
power over you…because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure
foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”
