Someone will come

I came out of class this afternoon and made my way to my car. There was an SUV with what looked like two flat tires on one side and a man trying to put the tire jack under his car. Knowing I probably knew less then this man about fixing up cars but thinking I might as well offer, I asked him if he wanted help.

The man looked up at me and as he started to speak his sobs choked in his throat. He told me that SUV was all he owned and someone had slashed his tires. That SUV was his house, his way to work. I asked him if someone was coming; he told me yes and so I left to get him gas. When I came back and helped him fill his car, he broke down and what he said nearly broke my heart.

"No one is coming. No one is coming. I am alone. My family isn't coming. No one is coming! This is all I have; I'm trying so hard to turn things around. No one is coming!

I threw my arms around this complete stranger and for a moment saw him as he really was, a beloved child of our Heavenly Father. Eventually someone one pulled over and helped him and some how got him the tires he needed. And my new friend David was off to fight another day.

It left me so so grateful that only a phone call away was my mother, my father, my brothers and my angel sister: people who when I am stranded come.
